Evaluating the solution of nucleation and condensational growth by a sectional moving grid – remapping method

In this study, a sectional moving grid-remapping method for the numerical solution of condensational growth is evaluated. The main novelty linked with remapping step, which based on splitting particles over all underlying fixed bins, assuming linear shape bin distribution. Extensive comparison high resolution TVD (Qamar et al. Citation2006) and first order discretization scheme presented. tested against analytical solutions pure condensation/evaporation. Further testing carried out condensation sulfuric acid involving multi-modal then evaluated case an ideal one-dimensional aerosol reactor, characterized by intense competition nucleation growth. converges stably quickly, as number bins increases mitigates diffusion efficiently as, or even slightly better, than scheme. computational cost comparable to that when Runge-Kutta ODE solver employed. formed predicted less 8 bins/decades.
